FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(NORWALK, CT) - ISC Solutions, a part of Security Week, the collection of four separate, yet interrelated events being held Nov. 1-3, 2011, announces the addition of the 40th Delegate Meeting & InterPort Police International Security Forum to take place Oct. 31- Nov. 4th and will be co-located with ISC Solutions Nov. 2-3, 2011. Security 500 (Nov. 1), Securing New Ground (Nov. 1-2), and the Security Week Gala and ISC Solutions make up the elements of Security Week.
Jay Grant, Secretary General of the InterPort Police (International Association of Airport and Seaport Police), stated, "The forum provides a platform for interaction among international law enforcement, public safety and the security stakeholders community who have jurisdiction or oversight responsibilities for an airport, seaport and or transport system." The forum will be co-located with ISC Solutions Nov. 2-3 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
"We are participating alongside Security Week to facilitate interaction between our members and the security industry manufacturers and integration service providers," said Grant. "The Forum offers intimate networking opportunities to share best practices for today's challenges and gain insight for mitigating tomorrow's threats while learning from their professional peers about issues such as international cooperation, technology solutions, and information sharing."
Chief Ronald J. Boyd, President of the InterPort Police, Chief of Police for Los Angeles Port Police Department, will offer his insights along with other U.S. and international command police officers and senior public safety officials on policing and public safety issues pertaining to transportation security including the protection of passengers, the supply chain and critical
infrastructure in today's environment. The international program includes significant roundtable discussions and will be held during the Forum meetings at ISC Solutions.
The 5 annual Fred V. Morrone 9/11 Memorial Award (911Award.org) will be presented atth the Security Week Dinner, to be held on the evening of the Nov. 2 at Chelsea Pier 61. The 9/11 Award was named in honor of Fred V. Morrone. Morrone was the incoming president of the InterPort Police and the superintendent of police and director of public safety for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Morrone and 36 other port authority officers perished in the Sept. 11 collapse of the World Trade Center towers. The award remembers all first responders who perished that day, and is especially brought to mind on this year's 10th anniversary.
The Forum will also include presentations from several of the United Nations (UN) organizations, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Chief Boyd stated, "Our association holds consultative status with the IMO and we currently are working on the piracy issues to include on scene crime investigations and armed guards solutions."
Officials from the UN's International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Office of Drug and Crime (UNDOC) are also expected to speak. Brigadier General Jan Beekman of the Netherlands has been invited to discuss global cooperation among jurisdictions on the piracy issue. Meeting delegates will have ample time to visit the ISC Solutions exhibition during both days.
"The inclusion of the InterPort Police Forum events during Security Week brings another valuable element to the ISC Solutions program," said Ed Several, Senior Vice President & General Manager, ISC Events. "New York is the perfect venue to highlight the complex requirements in protecting the international transportation security community, including critical infrastructure such as New York's and New Jersey's airports and harbors. This provides an opportunity to bring law enforcement and public safety professionals together at ISC Solutions to meet with new prospective security product manufacturers. This will only deepen their relationships and provide enhanced capabilities and resources for the greater good."
